1984

indy691

On April 20, The AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center will screen the film 1984 for a one-night-only viewing. The film is an adaptation of the seminal dystopian fiction novel by George Orwell adapted by director Michael Radford. This particular showing is an homage to starring actor John Hurt, most famous for his Academy Award-nominated performance in Midnight Express and later roles in Alien and the Hellboy franchise, who passed away earlier this year. The film features renowned actor Richard Burton in his final performance before his death and Roger Deakins – who has worked with the Coen brothers on films like The Big Lebowski, O Brother Where Art Thou?, and No Country for Old Men - making his debut as a cinematographer. It also features a score by new wave band Eurythmics.

The screening will take place at 7 p.m. Tickets are available on the AFI Silver Theatre website:
